Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy describes what information InventAI ("we", "us") collects when you use the InventAI platform, how we use it, and who we share it with. InventAI helps you take an invention from a plain-English description through engineering, electronics, CAD, simulation, and related workflows, guided by AI.

Information we collect

• Account information — name, email address, and profile details, collected and managed through our authentication provider, Clerk.
• Invention and project data — everything you create in the product: ideas, engineering specs, electronics designs, CAD files, simulation inputs/results, and any files you upload.
• Your own AI provider keys, if you add one — if you bring your own API key for Claude, OpenAI, Gemini, or DeepSeek, we store it encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and use it only to make AI calls on your workspace's behalf. We never log or display the raw key after you save it.
• Payment information — if you add a card for pay-as-you-go AI credit top-ups, your card details are collected and stored directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Usage data — which AI provider and how many tokens a given generation used (so we can show you your AI credit balance accurately), request logs, and basic diagnostic/error data.

How we use it

• To provide and operate the product — generating, storing, and displaying your invention data.
• To route your AI requests to the right provider and track their real cost against your AI credit balance.
• To process payments and pay-as-you-go top-ups via Stripe.
• To maintain security, prevent abuse, and debug issues.
• To communicate with you about your account, billing, or material changes to the product.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run InventAI, each acting under their own privacy terms:

• Clerk — authentication and account management.
• Stripe — payment processing. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never handle them.
• AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek) — receive the prompts needed to generate your requested content, using either our platform key or your own key if you've added one.
• AWS — file storage for assets and generated files (S3).

We do not sell your personal information.

Data retention

We retain your account and project data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account or data deleted, contact us using the details below and we'll process the request.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise any of these, contact us and we'll respond within a reasonable time.

Children's privacy

InventAI is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
